I am interested in how people talk about what they think. The sequence of words chosen to lend a bridge to tangential thought and indescribable feelings. what I mean is the revisitation of conversations I had with each artist early on in COVID-19. Between April - August 2020 I talked with artists about their artistic process in the project Portraits of Process. This conversation was documented and made into a video (30-45 min in length). In what I mean, I revisited the transcriptions of those previous talks (transcribed by Shana Crawford and Cheryl Young) and proposed a new iteration - the artist reflects on what they had previously said, and they follow up on a thought pattern (kind of like "what I mean to say when I talk about ______"). These are more like monologues, and kept short (10-15 min). The artists have contributed footage (video, photo) that I have layered on top of their talking. Braided together - our viewing, their words and their images.
